National Poetry Month – Day 7: Mad Man

Today’s haiku is titled “Mad Man.” Sorry, not sorry if it’s offensive to anyone. But this is what has occupied my mind today. How can it be ignored?

Tweet from Donald J. Trump discussing significant global changes and expressing concern over a civilization potentially ending.
A barren tree silhouetted against a cloudy sky, with text that reads 'His deadline tonight civilization will die words of a mad man'.

If you, too have been preoccupied by this potential horror, by words that can no longer simply be called “bluster” or a negotiation technique, please share your haiku in the comments below.
