Day 21: AI Generated Writing Prompt

I have no idea what to write about today. Or, maybe it’s more accurate to say I have too many things to write about and I can’t choose just one.

So I thought I’d experiment and ask AI to show me a picture of a writing prompt. This is the FIRST time I’ve used AI. Call me old, but so far, I’ve had some hesitation to use it, but I’m open to any comments to convince me otherwise. 🙂

However, I saw no harm in asking AI to generate a writing prompt. So, here it is:

I used to belong to a group called Friday Fictioneers. In this group, each Friday, someone would share a photo and the members would write a 100-word story about the photo. (If you’re interested in reading some of my short, short stories, enter “Fictioneers” in the search bar in the upper right corner.)

Here’s my 100-word story for today’s AI generated photo:

Boat

I sway in my porch swing

mocking the tender rocking of

Boat on the glassy lake.

Once upon a time, we argued about

what to name her until,

fed up, I said,

“Fine! Then let’s just name her Boat!”

First he laughed,

then he agreed.

Boat is empty now.

Once upon a time,

Birds sang from the shore where

we’d board our tiny yacht

in morning sunlight,

Thermos of coffee in hand.

He’d row to the middle of the lake,

pull in the oars,

and we’d drift together,

sipping our coffees

Now, Boat is empty.

I sip my coffee alone.
