One co-worker gawks. “That’s your anniversary present?”
Another snickers. “How many years did you say you’ve been married?”
“Fifteen,” I answer, admittedly a bit embarrassed. I open the card from my husband.
The beauty of roses
fades with time
But two hearts still green,
Will grow and climb
While love, like ivy, wraps around us
I can’t think of a rhyme, so instead I’ll just
Move on to Crystal and what it means
Our love still sparkles, even at fifteen,
Multi-faceted, and I have a hunch
It’ll always hold a delightful punch.
Even the gawker swoons.
THE END
I am NOT a poet. 🙂 Still, it was fun to come up with something for Rochelle’s interesting and challenging photo prompt. Click the “froggy” button to read more creative stories on this week’s prompt by multi-faceted, multi-talented Friday Fictioneers.

That kind of punch, right? Not the other kind
Only the most delightful kind of punch, Neil. 🙂
Dear Jan,
The poem made me swoon, too. Sounds like something a husband in love with his wife might write. Good one.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thank you, Rochelle. Steve, in fact, is a beautiful poet. I’ve been after him to gather his poems together for me to publish a book for him. I’d call it, “Why I Married Him.” 🙂
This is lovely. You may be a poet after all.
Thank you, Josh. I much prefer writing haiku, but couldn’t quite get everything into seventeen syllables. 🙂
That’s really entertaining, Jan! It’s also rather touching – well done!
Thank you, Penny. Yours, too, was very touching. And sad. 🙁
Aw, thanks, Jan!
I went with the fifteenth anniversary crystal too, but without the romance! Very romantic.
Yes, but yours was powerful and poignant at the same time, Iain.
How lovely!
Thank you, Linda!
Aww! What an old romantic he is!
He tries to be anyway! Thank you! 🙂
Lovely. You’re clearly a poet and you don’t know it!
Haha! Thank you, Keith!
So romantic!
Thank you!
Simply delightful! Gifts don’t have to cost a lot to be of high value!
True, Clare. The best gifts are those from the heart!
Awww this is so sweet, Jan! Absolutely enjoyed reading it. 🙂
I’m glad you liked it, Kasturi! Thank you for reading!
Not a poet? I beg to differ.
I know I am swooning… big time. What woman would not absolutely love a man who writes such beautiful notes?
Oh wow! Thank you, Dale!
It’s the thought that counts in the end… sometimes this is the truth
Yes, it’s truly the thought. (Although I may not have agreed to that in my younger days.) 🙂
YAY. Good hubby
A true romantic, StuHn! 🙂
Yes, I’ve often been accused of that. Now to find someone who I can actualize that.
You’re a poet, and you gotta know it! I loved this, it was so cute!
Thank you, Cheney! 🙂
AWESOME take on the photo prompt!!
Thank you, Donna! A real challenge this week!
That was real sweet poetry! 🙂
Thank you, darknetizen. Usually, the only poetry I attempt is haiku, so this was outside my comfort zone. 🙂
You have good skills even outside your comfort zone then! 🙂
You are a poet and you don’t know it! Absolutely beautiful
Thanks, again, Keith! 🙂
