~~~~~HAPPY NEW YEAR!~~~~~
As we approach the close of 2017, I wish you much happiness in the New Year. Here’s a tiny story to close this year and open the new one. 🙂
The Happiness Machine
“Prove it,” I said, skeptical Dr. Kissylips had invented a Happiness Machine.
“I’m 100% sure,” she replied. “Though I haven’t tested it yet.”
I sneered. “Good grief. You haven’t even tested it?”
She peered over her glasses. “You volunteering?”
I had nothing better to do. “Sure.”
“Great! First, the ‘before.” She held a mirror to my face. “See that scowl?”
“Whatever.”
“Here we go!” She flipped a switch.
Wheels spun. Mirrored disks caught sunlight that glittered and swirled around me.
Dr. Kissylips sashayed over with her mirror. “Voila!” she said. “Behold the ‘after!”
And in my reflection, a wide-eyed smile.
Dr. Kissylips – great name! This made me smile, so her job is done 🙂
Mission accomplished! Thanks, Iain!
Kissylips? The mind boggles.
My attempt to be Bond-esque. 🙂
Always go with Bond.
To quote an old adage: “The proof of the pudding is in the eating.” Hopefully this change will be more than cosmetic and she’ll feel happy, too. Good story. (With a name like that, this doctor sounds like a real party-girl. 😉
The magic is in the eye of the beholder. 🙂 Also, Dr. Kissylips became a scientist in an attempt to overcome the whisperings about her name. 🙂
Dear Jan,
Puppies have the same effect on me. 😉 Love Dr. Kissylips. And your story makes me happy, too.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thank you, Rochelle. Puppies (and babies, of course–especially grandbabies!) make me happy, too. And, if nothing else, I thought the good doctor’s name might draw a few smiles. 🙂
I loved and smiled at the ‘ wide-eyed happy smile’ I hope it stays for good.
Wonderful story, Jan
Thank you, Moon. I’m up early this morning, so I’m looking forward to reading yours and others over a nice, hot cup of coffee, which makes me happy. 🙂
Kissylips. Ha ha ha ha ha. And who wouldn’t be happy seeing that cute contraption!
Ah, wouldn’t that be marvellous! Sign the world up to one of these machines. Nice tale Jan
I agree, Lynn. If I could invent it (not that I’m Dr. Kissylips!) I’d give it away for free. 🙂 Happy New Year!
Thanks Jan and you 🙂
You certainly put a smile on MY face 🙂
Mission accomplished! 🙂 Happy New Year!
Same to you Jan 🙂
I smiled and smiled and smiled. Dr Kissylips… I am still smiling. I will finish this story!
Dr. Kissylips made me smile when she popped into my head, too, Kelvin. Thank you and Happy New Year! 🙂
I smiled too… so it works even reading it… great name that would have worked on a James Bond movie… (like Pussy Galore)
I’m glad you understood my intention, Bjorn! Best wishes for a happy 2018!
Enjoyed your story, and hope you have a great start to the new year as well.
Lovely feel good story
Thank you, Michael. It was a “feel good” photo prompt for me. Happy New Year! 🙂
Happy new year to you too
I immediately chuckled at the name Kissylips. Shiny objects have made people smile for centuries. What a fun take on the prompt. Best wishes for a great 2018.
Throw out the Prozac! Shun the therapist! Dr Kissylips has the answer!
Nice story, Jan. I’m not surprised the contraption made your narrator smile!
