This week’s photo prompt is by Raina Ng. Something about it brought a sense of peace, and reminded me of morning, my favorite time of day.

Reblogged this on Life: Haiku by Haiku.
Thsi is so beautiful, Jan. Well done. Mine is here: http://readinpleasure.wordpress.com/2012/10/05/fridayfictioneers-the-empty-heart/
Thank you, Celestine. I enjoyed yours, too, and the photo first inspired me the same way. 🙂
It’s not often that I say this about hiakus, but that is a truly lovely piece.
Thank you, Jessica!
Dear Jan,
A ghost in the machine is refusing to let me ‘like’ each successive post. Rest assured that I do love your moring haiku.
Aloha,
Doug
Doug, that same ghost visits me sometimes. I’m glad you liked the haiku. The photo was an excellent inspiration!
and that can carry more meaning that 100 words.
Thanks, Rich!
Mornings are my favorite too, Jan. Rich is right. You said more in 15 words than most of us can cram in 100.
Thanks, Russell. You brought back memories of one of my favorite TV shows. 🙂
Morning solitude and coffee…my favorite time of the day.
I love mornings best too, Tom. Yours was awesome — I left a comment, but it didn’t come up. Hope it just needed to be approved.
Jan,
Your comment was approved…I believe you will no longer need approval and the comments should just pop right up. Thanks for the kind words Jan. I enjoyed your haiku as well.
Tom
Hi Jan,
Amazing how much you can say in so few words. Just beautiful! Ron
Thanks, Ron. And yours was very clever!
That’s lovely. I’ve only recently ‘discovered’ haiku – and how wonderful they are to write – so thank you for reminding me that evocative writing needs few syllables.

Thank you, Joanna. I’ll look forward to reading some of you haiku!
Great writing, Jan. Yuo say so much in those few words and conjure a real sense of peace and contentment
Long time no see, elmowrites! Thank you for your kind words. Loved the ending to your story. 🙂
perfect…
Thanks, Raina. And thank you for a great photo prompt!
I got transported to a bright and quiet morning reading this.
Tranquil and peaceful! Lovely haiku.
Thanks, Parul. That’s what the photo inspired for me — tranquility.
Nice haiku, and it fits the image so well!
Thank you, newpillowbook!
Sweet and gentle. Just want I need today. Thank you for sharing this lovely poem.
I can see why you needed sweet and gentle after reading yours, K.D. 🙂 Whew — I got tired just reading about all that cleaning. Once again, however, I’m not sure if my comment is awaiting approval, or if it went to spam, but it didn’t come up on your blog. 🙁 Rest assured, however, I loved it — especially that last line!
Love the smell of coffee even though I drink tea. 🙂 After a long drive today , this relaxed me. Thanks.
I’m glad, sustainabilitea. Thank you. 🙂
I loved this. I’m not very good at writing haikus, which means I respect all the more people who actually can write them! Thank you for this little sea of calm.
Here’s mine

I’ll be you’d be good at Haiku, Sarah. Give it a try! 🙂
Love the haiku Jan! The quiet solitude of morning is truly a wonderful thing! And the coffee doesn’t hurt either! 🙂
Thanks, John. Coffee and mornings just seem to go together perfectly.
Coffee is my favorite part of morning. You painted a picture with few words.
Thanks, Rochelle. I have to say, mornings are my favorite. 🙂
Beautiful haiku, as always. And I’m right there with you about coffee (mornings not so much!) I’m finally back on board after nearly two months. http://banterwithbeth.blogspot.com
Welcome back, Beth. I’d love to read more about the misadventures of Mildred Medley. 🙂
You’ve captured perfectly what I love about mornings when I don’t oversleep 🙂
Ha! I understand completely, Madison. 🙂
Such a luxury to breathe in the scent of coffee as you quietly watch the sun rise before the morning’s activity begins. You’ve eloquently captured that precious time.
VB, even your comment is beautifully written. 🙂 Thank you.
Such a powerful three sentences. Says it all. Although I’d rather have the scent of Earl Grey Tea.
Thank you, Shirley. I’ll brew up some tea for you next time. 🙂
