This week’s photo prompt on Madison Woods‘ Friday Fictioneers is by one of our fellow Fictioneers, Douglas McIlroy. Doug, I thought the photo was beautiful, so please don’t take offense to my story. 🙂

The Original Pout
Eve trudged behind Adam, huffing. “I liked the garden better. On what day did God create this place, anyway?”
Adam walked faster. “Believe me. It’s for the best. If you’d listened to me, we’d still be in Eden. How many times did I tell you to leave that snake alone?”
“I was only trying to be social.” She wrapped her arms around her naked body. “Guess you know we’re going to have to wear more than fig leaves here. Are you listening to me?”
“Yes, Eve, I’m listening.”
She pouted. “What are we supposed to eat around here?”
“Certainly not apples.”

Great! What a wonderful take on the prompt. You have the beginning, I have a possible end. Mine is located at: http://oldentimes.wordpress.com/2012/06/01/friday-fictioneers-june-1-apocalypse/
Thanks, oldentimes. I prefer for your story to be the beginning, and mine can be the end — a new beginning.
that works too, Jan 😉
I enjoyed this Jan, it made me smile. A great take on the prompt.
Thanks, Mike. It popped into my head and I couldn’t resist!
Wonderful story and a brilliant take on the prompt. Very imaginative.

Thank you, EmmaMc! This was a fun one — but then, they all are. 🙂
Wow, I am chilled already. Pretty cute little tale – and exactly the opposite of the Garden of Eden. Kind of amazing as the prompt comes from Hawaii, which I always thought of as being the Garden….
Yours as ever,

Thanks, Lindaura. And yours was an Iopener. 🙂
Love it, Jan.
Thank you, Bonnie. 🙂
Well, they sure mastered being nasty to each other fast! A clever little story.

You’re right, newpillowbook. When I went back and re-read it, I thought the very same thing!

I LOVED THIS!!! Excuse me for shouting, but I wanted you to know how WoW this is. I am reblogging your story, and I hardly ever do that.

Wow — thanks, Ted! I consider that the finest compliment!
Reblogged this on TedBook and commented:
I rarely ever reblog a post. This one must be on TedBook. I always enjoy Jan’s stories, and comments on Madison Wood’s Friday Fictioneers.
Thank you, Ted. 🙂

Gee, when God expels you from the garden He certainly sends you to the other extreme. At least they didn’t wind up in that place that so much hotter 🙂

LOL, I love what you did there, although I’m not convinced that mankind would have survived beyond this first pairing if Eve was such a whinger!

yet another first for Adam and Eve! I loved it!! And the last line was pretty awesome! Here’s mine: http://theforgottenwife.com/2012/05/30/friday-fictioneers-1-june-2012-the-conquerer/
Hahah, I got such good giggles out of that story, Jan. Loved it!

Funny! I loved this. Everything about it–the title and the story. I, too, would prefer trudging through the garden, eventhough the photo took my breath away. I laughed about needing more fig leaves and staying away from apples! Great job.

That was excellent! I wish I’d thought of it myself !
Do I hear the historic beginning of the age old habit of nagging? Loved your take on the prompt, Jan. (No offense taken:)

I love it, typical husband/wife exchange! Great imagination!
Love it! Made me laugh. 🙂
I guess they will have to change out of their birthday suits and don snow suits. That Eve sounds like one whiny…uh…whiner…haha. I enjoyed your post, Jan! Thanks for sharing!

A comical modification to an original story. This is very creative… and hilarious.
I suppose we now know why there’s so much pouting in the world.
Here’s my take: was hoping the protagonist would survive. Tragic.

Sorry.
“Here’s my take: was hoping the protagonist would survive. Tragic.” isn’t part of my comment.
